Michael Thomas
Michael Thomas Woodward, 22, of Austin, Texas died on March 9. He will be missed by many friends and relatives around the world. Michael, an identical twin, was born in Houston, Texas 4 minutes before his brother James.
He attended Katy schools Texas and moved with his family to Delaware when he was 11.
In Delaware, he participated in scouts, band, choir, handbells, cross-country team, volleyball team, math, science, chess club and Japanese classes. He graduated from John Dickinson High School in Delaware and relocated back to Texas to attend University of Texas. At UT, he was a Chemistry and Asian Studies major. He was passionate about Japanese Association, Air force ROTC, Thuds mud run competitions, and the practice of his Christian faith. In May, he was to be commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force with a focus on combat rescue.
Michael was engaged to Fan Sun who also died on the same day. Surviving are his parents, Bobby and Susan Woodward of Fairfield, Ohio, brother, Benjamin Woodward of Newark, Delaware, twin brother James Woodward (and wife Kyoko) of Fairfax, Virginia, and Grandparents Henry and Jean Post of Baytown, Texas, Helen Woodward of Fairfield, Ohio. In Texas, Michael was also very close to his Uncle Bob and Aunt Sarah Post and family of San Angelo, TX. A memorial service will be at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Baytown, Texas on April 1 at 1:00 PM. A donation may be made to the ROTC fund that has been established to remember him for his leadership, compassion, and ability to inspire others.
